PUNJAB PREPARE FOR TOUGH ENCOUNTER

Solid Season So Far

Punjab preparation for this tough encounter against Wollaston Vics at home, was very competitive with a 17 man training session.
With both teams in the shake up for promotion Punjab will be looking to impress after a 3-1 defeat to Wellingborough Ranelagh last weekend.
Team News for the visit sees Claudio Pitra and Bethel Ofoshene returning to the squad.
With Bruce Calder, Chris Bright and Michael Chong all ruled out of this one.

RANELAGH TAKE THE POINTS FROM A LACKLUSTRE PUNJAB

Punjab suffered a shock defeat away to Wellingborough Ranelagh 3-1.
From the early exchanges Punjab produced many chances with the Ranelagh keeper in inspired form.
With Jazz Saini, Michael Chong, and Warren Barry all thwarted.
The game ended at 0-0 at the break.
The home side went one up when a free kick was headed home.
Punjab responded immediately when Jazz Saini was brought down by the Ranelagh keeper giving Skipper Paul Hetherington the chance to level from the spot.
Ranelagh converted another long ball for 2-1 before a defensive mix up was finished off for 3-1.
All in all a bad day at the office with title ambitions taking a jolt.
Other results from the day saw Finedon Volta lose but Cold Ashby leapfrogged Punjab into 2nd spot.

With Gary Wilson and Julian Millington looking sharp in training.
Team news sees Bruce Calder ruled out for the month joining Govinder Shergill and Garinder Birk on the sideline.
Trio Jazz Saini(stitches), Warren Barry (ankle) and Paul Hetherington(heel) all sitting out training as a precaution.

PUNJAB GET BACK TO WINNING WAYS AS TITLE PURSUIT GATHERS PACE

Punjab's line up showed 4 changes to the side that lost in the county cup last week.
Julian Millington, Gary Wilson, Ahmet Huseyin and Hassan Mumin made way for Gary Park, Michael Chong, Chris Bright and Stewart Hetherington.
Also returning to the squad saw Victor Carvalho take his place amongst the bench.
Punjab produced a solid performance to show there was no County Cup hangover by beating Ringstead Rangers 3-0.
Punjab had an early scare when Jaspal Saini took a kick to the face after a good 5 minutes of treatment on the head wound he went on to take part again.
Jazza duly opened the scoring when he robbed the full back of the ball and ran through to strike the ball cleanly into the roof of the net for 1-0.
Punjab had other opportunities before Jazza Saini played the ball into Michael Chong who duly finished off to make it 2-0 before the break.
The second half was more one way traffic before Michael Logue ran onto a neat through ball from Andrew Cox to kill the game off for 3-0 and secure the points.

Punjab enjoyed a 12 man training session in very foggy conditions in preparation for there first league encounter in four weeks when the host Ringstead Rangers at the glebe this coming Saturday.
Team News sees Garinder Birk, Govinder Shergill, Hassan Mumin and Sandeep Kumar all missing this one.
Returning to the fold sees Gary Park and Victor Carvalho added to the squad after missing the County Cup defeat last week.

PUNJAB DENIED SEMI FINAL PLACE BY BATTLING DODDINGTON

Punjab's interest in the NFA County Cup disappeared when a resolute and organised Great Doddington side put Punjab out the cup 1-0.

Punjab missed plenty of chances in the early exchanges to go in 0-0 at the break.

The visitors got the smash and grab goal they came for when a right wing corner was converted despite the best efforts of the man on the line.

Punjab created numerous more chances with the best chance falling to Michael Chong and then Jazz Saini which the visitors scrambled away which showed that it was not to be our day.

The final whistle went with dejected Punjab players and happy Doddington lads.

All at Punjab would like to wish Great Doddington all the best in the semi final.

TEAM NEWS FOR COUNTY CUP CLASH

Punjab were put through there paces in ideal preparation for the NFA Lower Junior Cup tie versus Great Doddington on Saturday.
Team news sees Striker Hassan Mumin return after suspension with Chris Bright also pushing to make the squad this week.
Punjab will have to make do without Garinder Birk, Gary Park and Victor Carvalho for this one.
Manager Amrit added "Boys are showing a real hunger to suceed in training which in turn is transformed to the matches.

CHONGY'S HAT TRICK PUTS PUNJAB INTO THE LAST EIGHT

Punjab for the first time this season fielded the same 11 that won 5-0 versus Islip United last weekend.
Duncan Homer and Claudio Pitra took there places amongst the bench.

Punjab produced a solid performance to progress into the last eight of the County Cup by beating a good Peterborough Castor Ailsworth side 3-1.
The first half saw plenty of chances for Punjab but the deadlock was broken when Ahmet Huseyin's channel ball saw Michael Chong spring the offside trap and sprint on and score with a nice finish to make it 1-0 at the break.
Punjab came out in the second and hit the post twice via Chong and Cox before Michael Chong turned home the second from Ahmet's throw in to make it 2-0.
Punjab then produced numerous chances to kill the tie and it finally arrived when Andrew Cox was bought down in the box which gave Michael Chong the opportunity for his 2nd hat trick in a week which he duly took to make it 3-0.
The visitors scored from an overhead kick to make it 3-1 but Punjab progress into the next round.
