Punjab produced a good all round solid performance in Pre-season friendly 5 with an emphatic 5-0 win over Burton United.
Despite up to 11 players not available for selection the football and movement was excellent at times as Punjab's preparations for season 2008/09 continued.

It took until the 34th minute to open the scoring when Warren Barry in his first pre-season start weaved through 3 challenges before placing the ball into the bottom left corner for 1-0.

Three minutes later Punjab doubled the lead when a Bethel Ofoshune throw-in was headed by Victor Carvalho to Gary Park whose cross field ball to Warren Barry was well held up before he delivered to Andrew Cox who headed home for 2-0.

At the interval Cofie and Singh made way for Julian Millington & Bruce Calder.
Within 5 minutes of the re-start Julian Millington scored to make it 3-0 with a good shot.

PUNJAB BATTLE BACK TWICE TO FINALLY OVERCOME GALAXY

Punjab United 4 Kettering Town Galaxy 2
Hassan Mumin (2) 1 pen
Julian Millington
Claudio Pitra

HT 2-2

Punjab recovered twice to finally record there 3rd pre-season success this month over a well organised Kettering Town Galaxy side.

Galaxy took the lead when a dubious offside was headed home by there frontman for 1-0.
The visitors created plenty of chances before Hassan Mumin drove home a low shot to level the game at 1-1.

Punjab then produced more lacklustre defending that gifted the same man the chance to put Galaxy 2-1 up which he duly obliged with.
After a defensive error Punjab levelled this time Julian Millington rolled into an unguarded net to leave the game at 2-2 at the break.
The seond half saw Punjab missing numerous chances before Claudio Pitra danced his way through 4 players before lashing the shot that hit the bar bounced on the line and hit the net to put Punjab 3-2 up on 80 minutes.
Punjab put the seal on the game when Hassan Mumin was fouled and he duly stepped up to rifle home the penalty for 4-2.

MUMIN'S DOUBLE SEES PUNJAB PAST ISLIP

Punjab United 4 Islip United 2
Gareth Walker
Hassan Mumin (2)
Victor Carvalho

HT 1-1

Despite a below par first half performance Punjab finally came through there 3rd pre-season encounter with a 4-2 win against Islip United.

Gareth Walker scored the opener by rounding the keeper to finish well in the 12th minute to put Punjab in front.
However the lead lasted just six minutes when a mix up in Punjab's midfield gifted Islip the chance which there player finished off nicely to level the game at 1-1 at the break.

After some organisation at the break Punjab came out and effectively put the game to bed within the hour mark.

Firstly Stand In Captain Hassan Mumin picked up the keepers loose clearance to lift the ball into an empty net from 25yards, then two minutes later he steered the ball under the keeper to make it 3-1.

Victor Carvalho then tapped in for 4-1 on 60 minutes.

Islip had the last word when a 90th minute penalty was converted to finish the game 4-2 to Punjab.

Overall an average performance that shows there is plenty of improvements to be made as we approach pre-season game 4 on Thursday versus Kettering Town Galaxy at CTC.
