ALL SET FOR THE OPENER

Punjab enjoyed a 13 man training session for final preparations for the season opener versus Wilbarston at home.

The lads enjoyed various drills and ball work for what promises to be a tough season in Division 2.

Team news sees a few absentees with new signing Michael Logue, Garinder Birk and Claudio Pitra all unavailable.

Punjab have also ruled out defender Duncan Homer for this fixture.

Better news sees Striker Andrew Cox declare himself fit for the opener.

New Boys Ross Mcvegh, Warren Barry and Bruce Calder are all added to the 19 man squad.

TRANSFER ACTIVITIES SEASON 2007/08

Punjab pre-season preparations have seen them win 7 and draw 1 of there 8 friendlies.

The squad has adapted really well to two training sessions in the week and some weeks midweek friendlies.

Together with all the demands of the new season the club has made some changes to there squad:-

Players leaving the club sees Simon Kent move to Division 3 side Ristee Towers with Daniel Jennings and Bukhtar Taggar also moving on.

17 goal striker Michael Chong has decided to try his luck at Stewart & Lloyds in the UCL.

Good luck to all these guys and thank you for your contribution to Punjab United FC.

Coming into the squad for the new season sees many new faces:-

The club has been busy signing new players with 5 new faces:-
Michael Logue,Warren Barry, Joao Lopes,Ross Mcvegh and Bruce Calder coming in to strengthen an already impressive squad.

FINAL PRE-SEASON FIXTURE ENDS IN DRAW

Punjab played out an entertaining 5-5 draw with Stanion United in there last pre-season fixture before the serious business starts on the 1st September.

Striker Hassan Mumin bagged 4 and Andrew Cox added one before the visitors scored a couple of late goals to get the draw.

PUNJAB BATTLE BACK TO WIN

Punjab battled back from 1-0 down to beat Madisons 5-1.

Madisons took an early lead for 1-0 before Gary Park's excellent slip ball gave Gary Wilson the chance to level at 1-1.

Andrew Cox then clipped home a superb second for 2-1 before Ross Mcvegh hammered home from 20 yards for 3-1.

Punjab continued to miss chances before Andrew Cox hit a 2nd for 4-1 before he laid on a tap in for Victor Carvalho to finish the scoring at 5-1.

PUNJAB STROLL TO A 6 GOAL VICTORY

Punjab produced some quality football in the first 45 minutes to see off O'Gs 6-3.

Jaspal Saini scored the first with a 20 yard effort well curled into the left corner for 1-0.

Hassan Mumin then scored the first of his three with a nice finish for 2-0.

Andrew Cox was next on the scoresheet with a neat finish for 3-0.

Skipper Paul Hetherington headed home a Warren Barry corner for 4-0.

Before Punjab scored the goal of the game that was worked from the back all the way up involving six men that was finished off by Hassan Mumin for 5-0.

The home side pulled a couple back before the break to go in 5-2 down at the break.

In the second half Punjab missed numerous chances before Hassan Mumin headed home from a clipped ball for 6-2.

The home side scored another late consolation to finish the scoring at 6-3.

All in all a good workout with no fewer than 10 enjoying 90 minutes.

PUNJAB STORM BACK FROM 3-0 TO WIN

Punjab produced a superb comeback from 3-0 to preserve there unbeaten record in pre-season.

The Punjab starting line-up had a blend of experience and youth with a total of 18 players used in this work out.

The visitors stormed into a 3 goal lead as the Punjab back line was exposed by some good movement by the visitors.

Punjab then came back when Andrew Cox rounded the keeper for 1-3 before he scored a 2nd to reduce the deficit to 2-3 at the break.

The second half began and Striker Hassan Mumin scored with a neat finish for 3-3.

Hassan then converted a corner for 4-3 before he latched onto a good through ball to hammer home his third and his hat trick goal.

The visitors scored again for 5-4.

With the fitness levels and the movement Punjab possessed the visitors could not quite get back into the game.

A special thank you to both sets of players for a good game played in good spirit.

PUNJAB FIGHTBACK TO CLAIM WIN

Punjab produced two fighbacks to claim a 7-5 win against a good Weekly side.

The visitors took a 1-0 lead with some good interchages before Claudio Pitra levelled the game.

Weekly then struck twice to race into a 3-1 lead.

Punjab fought back to go level at the break when first Hassan Mumin scored then Andrew Cox struck for 3-3.

The second half began with more sloppy play by Punjab and weekly taking full advantage with 2 goals to go
5-3 up.

Punjab came back when Hassan Mumin struck again before Andrew Cox drilled a half volley home for 5-5.

Young winger "Joao David Sanchez Lopes" then struck with his first touch for 6-5 before Andrew Cox hit the seventh.

All in all a good work out with no fewer than 18 players used for a good work out.

PUNJAB WIN 13 GOAL THRILLER

Punjab made it three straight wins in pre-season to win a high scoring game against Division One outfit Medbourne.

Alot of credit has to go to both squads for producing a great game that was played over 4 30minute halves so both managers could take a good look at their respective squads.

In period 1 Punjab raced into a 2-0 lead when Michael Chong squared for Andrew Cox to tap in then a carbon copy of goal one by the duo gave Andrew Cox his second.
Ross Mitchell then scored at the back post to make it 2-1 at the end of Period 1.

In Period 2 with changes being made at both ends Young Striker Jack Burrows lobbed home from 20 yards to make the game 2-2.

In Period 3 Punjab took a strong hold of the game when Hassan Mumin raced clear to score with a neat finish for 3-2 before Gary Wilson won the ball and finished with good low drive for 4-2.
Hassan Mumin then raced clear to add a second after some good work between Jazz, Coxy and Logue for 5-2
Medbourne were then awarded a penalty that Kevin Fisher despatched well for 5-3.
Andrew Cox scored his hat trick with a very good goal when spinning the ball up and crashing a half volley in from 20 yards plus for 6-3.
Rob Thompson then finished well for 6-4 before Andrew Cox added his fourth from a curling finish for 7-4.

In Period 4 Jazz Saini hammered home number 8 with a neat finish before Medbourne's Kevin Fisher finished well from a through ball to finish the scoring at 8-5 to Punjab.

A special thank you to Medbourne and Punjab Players for producing a good game played in great spirit...

PUNJAB NET 5 IN PRE-SEASON STROLL

Punjab enjoyed a comfortable 5-1 win over Dainite Sports to continue there pre-season preparations for the upcoming 2007/08 season.

A total of 17 players were used in the game.

Michael Chong notched a double the first one a good right footed curling effort into the top right corner and his second after a good pass from Andrew Cox.

Winger Gary Wilson notched a good finish when he struck a great 25 yard strike either side of Chongy's double.

Claudio Pitra then headed home a good cross for 4-0.

The visitors pulled one back before little trialist John Carvalho strike the fifth with a good left footed finish to put the seal on the game.

Special mention has to go to the squad for providing some good pass and movement.

Another trialist Michael Logue made an impressive debut in centre midfield.
