TEAM NEWS FOR COUNTY CUP CLASH

Sandeep Kumar... Back in the Squad

A strong 18 man squad worked very hard on another chilly evening whilst preparing for the County Cup clash versus Kingscliffe.

Team News sees Ross Mcvey, Bruce Calder and Gary Wilson all missing.
Defender Stewart Hetherington has been ruled out after taking a heavy knock in a collision last week with the keeper.

With Gary Park and Skipper Paul Hetherington nursing knocks, though both have been added to the squad.

Returning to the squad sees Sandeep Kumar and influential midfielder Michael Logue returning.

Winger Warren Barry is a surprise inclusion in the squad after missing 4 games through injury.

Punjab will be looking to bounce back after the Wollaston reverse last week.

ANDREW COX JOINS 50 CLUB

Striker Andrew Cox has become the 2nd player in Punjab's 7 seven history to goes past 50 competitive goals for the club.
He has scored 45 league goals and 6 cup goals.
An amazing goalscoring record of 51 goals in 42 league and cup games.

Andrew Cox has now scored 51 goals for the club.

In the 51 he has scored he scored 8 in a 13-0 romp over CSV United.

He bagged 4 in a 7-1 win over Kettering Orchard Park.


This season he has bagged 16 already which has included 3 hat tricks against Wilbarston (7-0) Finedon Volta (5-2) and Wollaston Vics (4-6)

WOLLASTON FIGHTBACK TO DENY PUNJAB

Punjab were denied 3 points by a Wollaston outfit that fought back from 4-2 down at half time to grab 3 points and maintain there unbeaten run.

The first half saw Vics score inside 2 mins after a 50-50 ball was won by the player.

Andrew Cox tapped in for 1-1 after good work by Julian Millington.

Cox then fired home from 30yards plus to put Punjab 2-1 up the home side equalized again.

Chris Bright then headed home a corner for 3-2 before Andrew Cox executed a brilliant scissor kick finish from Hassan Mumin's deliver for 4-2.

Punjab came out in the 2nd half and missed a couple of good chances before the home side took the initiative.

A right wing cross was converted at the back post before a free kick was placed into the bottom left corner for 4-4.

Wollaston then went in front from a close finish for 5-4.

Vics wrapped up the result from a counter attack 6th goal for 6-4.

Punjab would like to thank Wollaston for there hospitality.

Punjab will travel away to Wollaston Vics who are the only unbeaten side in Division 2 on the back of a great 2-0 win over Kettering Orchard Park.

PROFESSIONAL PUNJAB PICK UP 3 POINTS

Punjab enjoyed a well controlled performance to see of Kettering Orchard Park 2-0 to grab 3 vital points in the quest for promotion.

A truly professional performance from all aspects of there play was rewarded when striker Hassan Mumin crossed from the left wing and strike partner Andrew Cox headed home from 6yards to open the scoring.

The Punjab rearguard was in good form and well shielded by the excellent Chris Bright and Michael Logue making his first start in over a month.

In the second half Punjab created numerous chances with Hassan Mumin adjudged to be in an offside position when he finished off an excellent six man move.

This really ignited the drive within to make sure the game was won and Andrew Cox obliged with a brilliant 20 yard volley through a crowd of players that arrowed into the bottom right corner for 2-0.

Hassan Mumin was again denied a goal by the linesman's flag and Punjab missed a couple of other good chances, but the 3 points were picked up.

TEAM NEWS FOR LEAGUE VISIT OF KETTERING ORCHARD PARK

Punjab geared up for the visit of Kettering Orchard Park with a 13 man training session in cold conditions.
This is the second time the two teams meet after the Divisional Cup clash which Punjab came through with a 2-1 win.

Manager Amrit Poonia added last week was a great cup tie that could have swung either way. Team News sees Bobby Bhandal return to the squad after missing the last four games with Winger Sandeep Kumar also added to the squad.

Ahmet Huseyin, Garinder Birk, Warren Barry,Ross Mcvey and Bruce Calder all miss this clash.

Midfielders Michael Logue and Victor Carvalho are also pushing for recalls.

HETHERINGTON SPOT ON AS PUNJAB PROGRESS

Punjab booked there place in the next round of the Divisional Cup with a 2-1 win over Kettering Orchard Park.

Early exchanges saw both sides create chances with Amarpreet Singh pulling off a couple of good saves early on.
Stewart Hetherington then clipped a ball forward that striker Andrew Cox bought down before slotting it past the keeper for 1-0.


K.O.P hit back with a good finish by Danny Darker who rounded the keeper to finish for 1-1.
Punjab created numerous chances before they were awarded a penalty that captain Paul Hetherington stepped up and despatched to book Punjab a place in the next round.
Punjab did put the ball in the net once more via Michael Logue but it was ruled out for offside.

Punjab enjoyed a 90 minute training session for a eagerly anticipated clash with Kettering Orchard Park.
Punjab will travel with a squad of 18 available for this fixture.

Punjab welcome back Jazz Saini, Michael Logue, Govinder Shergill, Julian Millington and Roland Caka into the squad alongside Claudio Pitra who stands by for his first appearance of the season.

CHAIRMAN TIES THE KNOT

Punjab United management team and close friends enjoyed the free weekend from Football at the Wedding of Punjab United Chairman Garinder Birk to Lisa Barber at Kettering Register Office on Saturday 3rd November.
Everyone then moved onto Burton Country Club for the wedding reception which lasted until 7pm.

On behalf of all connected to the Club I would like to congratulate Lisa and Ginny on a long and happy future together.
