PLAYER PROFILES FOR THE CUP FINAL
With this being Cup Final week we have taken the opportunity to review the squad and what types of contributions they have made to the club in season 2006/2007.
PLAYER PROFILES
1)Bobby Bhandal - Goalkeeper
Bobby has been with the club for six years, he started off as understudy but has established himself as the No 1 firmly for over three years now.
He was voted man of the match against Ristee Towers in a 1-0 win.
2)Duncan Homer - Defender/Midfielder
He has been with the club for six years he is the most versatile player in the squad who has played in every outfield position for the club. He also has eight goals to his name this season.
Most notable strike was a 25 yard free kick against Corby Flamingo in a 4-0 win.
3)Paul Hetherington - Defender
The club skipper a colossus in the air and a great leader for the team.
Has bagged 5 goals this season including a hat trick against Weavers Old Boys in a 5-1 win.
4) Gary Park - Defender/Midfielder
In his debut season for the club has really interacted well within the squad.
Another who has operated in many positions during the season.
Notched a double during the Quarter Final win over Wilby.
5) Garinder Birk - Defender
Has played in both full back areas for the team this season.
Ginny was part of the set up of the club and is the chairman role at the club.
6) Jaspal Saini - Defender/Midfielder
The former captain returned on transfer deadline day to the club for his second spell.
He has played really in wide areas and as a sweeper.
Most notable contribution this season was a great performance at centre half in semi final win over Dainite.
7) Gary Wilson - Winger
Has been a revelation for the club this season with his hard work and numerous assists for the club.
He has been with the club for 5 seasons now.
Gary has scored 5 goals this season most notable effort was a great chip against Wilby back in November.
8) Andrew Cox - Midfielder/Striker
In his debut season for the club a star in his own right has scored 24 goals in all competitions this season.
Very comfortable in both wide areas, as a centre midfielder or as a front man.
The capture of Andrew Cox from bitter rivals Chalkies was equivalent to "Gary Nevilee playing for Liverpool"
Most notable contribution was his four goals in a 7-1 win over Kettering Park Rovers.
9) Claudio Pitra - Midfielder/Striker
The Portugeezer of the team, the fittest player in an excellent squad.
He can score goals,head,tackle and do anything you want.
Operates in the Didi Hamman role for Punjab and is the team Vice Captain.
Claudio has 5 goals to his name the most notable strike was when he beat four men to score versus Ristee in the Divisional Cup.
10) Chris Bright - Midfielder
Another close season capture, Brighty came into the team and organised the side and kept the team in shape.
His physical presence in the air and eye for goal has marked him out to be a valuable player in this team.
Brighty has 8 goals most memorable strike must be the 25 yarder v Corby Flamingo in the NFA Cup.
11) Julian Millington - Winger/Striker
Jules was another who came in the close season with his pace and power makes it very hard to play against.
He has notched 5 goals but his most memorable moment must be his 2nd goal in the NFA cup v wellingboro Town reserves in a 4-3 win back in December.
12) Ahmet Huseyin - Defender
Another close season signing, has added great organisation to the back line and plays from the heart.
Can operate at Centre half, right back and anchor man in midfield.
No goals but a superb man of the match performance win over Higham town reserves in January.
13) Hassan Mumin - Winger/ Striker
Hassan was bought in from BPW reserves in January. He has operated at centre half, striker and on both wings.
He brings pace and power to the squad with 3 goals to his name.
Most notable strike was the equaliser in a man of the match performance in the semi final win over Dainite Sports.
14) Simon Kent - Defender/Winger
Simon in second spell with the club joined mid season from Ristee.
Packs a superb shot and very comfortable on the ball.
Most notable contribution was his hat trick in the semi final win over Dainite.
15) Roland Caka - Winger
The little Albanian in his debut season, has lit up training with some good skill although chances have been limited he has stepped in and played very well in games.
16) Michael Chong - Striker
Michael in his second spell at the club has added that extra dimension which was required when signed in January.
He has 11 goals in 9 games and linked up very well with others around him.
Most notable strike was his 25 yards volley in a 2-0 win over Cold Ashby in March.
17) Stewart Hetherington - Defender
Stewart although not played much due to injuries has played well when he has been called into the starting line up.
Has been with the club since it started in now his third spell.
Has been man of the match twice this season versus Wilby.
18) Michael Crawford - Midfielder/Striker
Michael was part of the original squad six years ago.
He came back in mid December and played a starring role during excellent performances
versus Daventry Drayton Grange and Wellingboro Town Res.
Has scored one goal versus Well'boro Old Grammarians after coming off the bench during a 5-1 win.
19) Victor Carvalho - Winger
Victor was promoted from the Sharabi Utd team to Punjab United where chances have been limited but he has played well when called upon.
He has scored one when he came of the bench versus Well'boro Old Gramms.
20) Ahmet Aksu - Midfielder/Striker
The flying Turk has been with the club from day one.
Loves the club and always puts a positive spin around the team in training.
Not scored this season but is the clubs all time second top goalscorer.
21) Amarpreet Singh - Goalkeeper
One of the most loyal players at the club who works tirelessly for the club from Photography to kit organisation.
He has played only a handful of games but played a starring role in a 1-0 win over Kettering park rovers early season in centre midfield.
22) Govinder Shergill - Defender
The Presidents son has really become a true supporter for the club this season.
At 15 years old he is learning the game but loves training with the squad.
One brief appearance in a 3-1 win over Great Doddington
23) Bukhtar Taggar - Midfielder
Bukhtar played early season but then injured his ankle from which he has not recovered.
He has three goals to his name the most notable was the winner in a 2-1 win over West Haddon.
24) Daniel Jennings - Winger
Daniel has played very little but has been with the side for two seasons now.
Played well in the first round of the cup.
25) Harinder Bajwa - Winger/Striker
Young Harry works away but tries to come down when he can.
A very pacey winger who can pop up with vital goals for the team.
26)Aki Bajwa - Defender
Aki played early season for the club at full back but then work commitments have halted his progress.
27)Satnam Shergill - President
The main man of the club, wears many hats but is the "Godfather" of the club.
His most famous saying is "There's only one UNITED....Punjab United".........
28)Amrit Poonia - Manager
