CHONGY TOWERS OVER RISTEE TO KEEP PUNJAB ON COURSE FOR PROMOTION

Goalscorer Michael Chong made it 11 goals in 9 starts

Punjab showed just one change to the starting line up which beat Cold Ashby last week with Gary Wilson making his first start in three games with Ahmet Huseyin dropping down to the bench.

In ristee towers last game of the season the visitors had to endure a shaky quarter to the game with some half chances created by the home side but with a defence brillantly marshalled by Skipper Paul Hetherington and Jaspal Saini limited the home side to half chances.

Hassan Mumin put a header into the Ristee keepers arms before missing a further chance which was well saved by the home keeper.

Nevertheless Punjab made the breakthrough when Duncan Homer,Hassan Mumin and Gary Park combined in some wonderful football that enabled Michael Chong to rise above the towers defence and plant a header into the top left hand corner.

The home side created some good chances in the second half with three outstanding saves being made by Bobby Bhandal one in particular from a rasping drive from the edge of the box.

Despite these chances the Punjab rearguard defended magnificently to ensure Punjab picked up 3 vital points in there quest for promotion.
