WILSON JUMPS OF BENCH TO INSPIRE A PUNJAB COME BACK

A wonderful comeback by Punjab inspired by the introduction of dazzling winger Gary Wilson ensured Punjab picked up 3 vital points to maintain there early season form.

The visitors went 1-0 up when striker John Tarry raced clear to clip the ball over Singh for 1-0 in the 3rd minute.

The visitors then doubled there lead when they were awarded a penalty which Tarry put away for 2-0.

Punjab's first half performance was nowhere near the early season standards set this is despite Victor hitting side netting and a Andrew Cox free kick coming back of the post.
The second half will be remembered for the football and the substitutions that made the impact.

Punjab were blitzing the Volta goal but couldn't find a way through until sub Hassan Mumin controlled the ball on his chest and hooked it over his shoulder for Andrew Cox to run onto and finish with a good left foot strike placed into the far corner for 1-2.

Punjab were soon level when after good work by Ross Mcvey on the flank fed Andrew Cox who was bought down giving Captain Paul Hetherington the chance to smash home a great penalty for 2-2.

The inspirational Wilson was causing the visitors no end of problems as they tried to hold out but then a superb ball to Gary Wilson gave him the chance to steady himself before crashing home a neat finish to put Punjab 3-2 up.

This was nothing more than Punjab deserved after the amount of times the volta keeper kept Cox, Bright and Wilson at bay.
Wilson then dribbled past 3 volta defenders cut back and rolled the ball into Andrew Cox's path who drilled the ball high into the net for 4-2.

Andrew Cox then beat the offside trap to lob the keeper for 5-2 to cap of a brilliant team performance in the second half.
