COXY HOLDS NERVE TO NET KHALSA A VALUABLE WIN

Khalsa 2 Kislingbury 1
Andrew Cox (2) 1 pen

HT 1-0

Khalsa arrived at Kislingbury looking to complete a league double over 3rd placed side.
The Khalsa line up had a very unfamiliar look to it with rewards for reserve team players Steve McCabe, Dean King, Joseph Bennett and Liam Bradley with new signing Shaun Allen making his club debut in goal.
Good chances were spurned in the early exchanges with Cox, Carvalho and Miller all going close.
Finally Khalsa made the breakthrough in the 30th minute Skipper Jazz Saini won the ball that he played up to Andrew Cox who rounded the keeper to roll into an empty net to give Khalsa a deserved half time lead.
The second half immediately saw Kislingbury put Khalsa on the back foot and in the 48th minute they drew level with a header from the corner.
The contest then went end to end before Kislingbury were awarded a penalty that was harshly given against young Liam Bradley.
Up stepped the Kislingbury forward who managed to sky the effort to leave the scores deadlocked.
Khalsa replaced midfielder Dean King with Paul Britton who made a valuable contribution with some neat touches and passes.
Khalsa missed further chances with Cox, Carvalho going close in the second half.
Khalsa with ten minutes to go replaced Stephen Miller with Mark Watson to change things.
A late chance for Kislingbury was well held by Shaun Allen who in turn sent Victor Carvalho clear, Carvalho beat the man with pace and just as he was about to put the cross in he was bought down leaving the referee no alternative but to give Khalsa a penalty.
Striker Andrew Cox stepped up to send the keeper the wrong way and give Khalsa a 2-1 win and immediately the referee blew the final whistle.
A great win as Khalsa move out of the bottom two for the first time this season.
