PUNJAB TAKE DESERVED POINT FROM ROVERS

Punjab United 1 Stanwick Rovers 1
Michael Chong

HT 0-1
Punjab picked up a deserved point despite unluckily falling behind in the first half against relegation threatened Stanwick Rovers.
Punjab played with confidence with Chong, Walker, Pink and Wilson causing all sorts of problems for the home side with Man Of The Match Bethel Ofoshune marshaling the midfield in front of the back four.
Punjab thought they had taken a deserved lead when Gareth Walkers cross was turned in by Aston Pink but the joy was short lived because the referee blew for a push on the defender.
Stanwick took the lead when a long cross was turned in for 0-1 which finished the scoring in the first half.
Punjab came out in the second half with a changed system and straight from the off put Stanwick under pressure with Chong, Wilson and Walker all going close.
Substitute Victor Carvalho then delivered a corner that was turned in by Michael Chong for his 16th goal of the season.
Punjab missed other chances but came away with a point though counting the cost of injuries with Gary Park and Aston Pink both looking doubtful for Thursday's game at home to Welford Victoria.
