PUNJAB BEGIN LIFE IN DIVISION 2 WITH A WIN

Punjab kicked off the 2007/08 campaign with a comprehensive 7-0 win over Wilbarston.

With numerous chances missed in the opening 30 minutes Punjab finally made the breakthrough when Andrew Cox sprung the offside trap to score with a neat finish.

The second half saw one way traffic, Amarpreet Singh's long kick was met by Andrew Cox who chipped the keeper with a delightful finish for 3-0 before Hassan Mumin squared to Cox to finish for 4-0 and his hat trick.

Skipper Paul Hetherington headed home a Warren Barry corner for 5-0 before Hassan Mumin added 2.

There was even time for Ross Mcvegh to be bought down giving Jazz Saini the chance from the spot only for the keeper to save Jazz's kick when he followed it up with a diving headed goal the referee adjudged it had hit the bar and the keeper had not saved it.
