Tactical Awareness

Julian Celebrating his 1st Goal

NFA Lower Junior Cup Round 3.

Punjab United 4 Wellingborough Town Reserves 3

Punjab produced a brilliant performance full of tactical awareness and passion to see off a very good Wellingborough Town side in the NFA Cup.

Punjab Took the lead when Andrew Cox corner was converted by Claudio Pitra with a powerful header.

The same combination nearly made it 2-0 but this time Pitra hit the bar.

Wellingborough then made it 1-1 when a mix up allowed them to take advantage.

The away side made it 1-2 when they netted at the back post from a free header.

Punjab then produced the goal of the game when some sublime football involving Duncan Homer, Claudio Pitra found Julian Millington who put a superb ball into Andrew Cox to side foot home from 12 yards to level the tie at 2-2.
In the second half Punjab produced many chances before Andrew Cox returned the compliment to Julian Millington to tap in from close range to make it 3-2 to the home side.

Gary Park, Chris Bright and Gary Wilson then produced chances that went begging.

The away side then leveled to make it 3-3 from a direct free kick that evaded the goalkeeper.

Punjab still produced countless counter attacks but could not finish off the tie before Julian Millington hit his second by beating 3 men and hitting a powerful shot into the bottom left corner to make it 4-3 to Punjab in the 82nd Minute.

Punjab held on with some brilliant defense work from the team.
